Orthotic Assessment and Correction
A parallel has been drawn between human feet and the foundation of a building for the way they both support the weight and affect the stability and function of superjacent structures. For the human body the superjacent structures which evidently can be negatively affected by dysfunction of the feet are the joints and muscles of the ankle, knee, hip, even the lumbar spine.
In case that the assessment of certain lower limb pathology indicates that biomechanical foot dysfunction is the cause, or even just a contributing factor, treatment must be directed in the correction of this dysfunction. Manual Therapy and exercises must be augmented by the use of orthotic insoles which will alter and improve the lower limb’s function.
At Physioactive we offer orthotic assessment of the feet with a valid and reliable biomechanical examination followed by moulding special orthopaedic insoles for the correction of each specific dysfunction, individualised for each single patient. For this purpose we use the special heat moulding orthotics of the biggest multinational companies in the field of research, education, and design of orthotic aids.
Few disorders (among others) which evidently have been linked with biomechanical feet dysfunction are the following:
- PlantarFascitis
- Hallux Abducto Valgus (Bunions)
- Metatarsalgia (pain on the forefoot)
- Achilles Tendon Disorders
- Anterior Knee Pain
- Tibial Stress Syndrome
- Low Back Pain
